Binolume

Binocular vision training for Meta Quest

Get both eyes on the same team.

Binolume turns the exercises used in vision therapy into games. Each eye sees exactly what it needs to, so the weaker eye has to join in. And every session tells you how far your fusion went, in prism diopters.

Try it

See what each eye sees.

In Rhythm Cut’s MFBF mode, the crystals you slice are drawn only for the weaker eye and the bombs only for the stronger one. To play well, your brain has to use both.

Your brain puts both images together into one scene.

Example with the right eye as the weaker one. You choose the eye in your profile.

Recorded inside the headset on Meta Quest.

The problem

Eye exercises shouldn’t feel like homework.

01

Boring gets skipped

Pencil push-ups, cards and red-blue glasses work best when done every day. Most people stop after a week.

02

Nobody sees what happened

At home there is no way to know if the exercise was done right, or how hard it was.

03

Progress gets lost

Results end up on a piece of paper, if they are written down at all.

A VR headset can show each eye a different image, move targets with precision and log every response. Binolume was built around exactly that.

Inside the app

The vision lab, inside a game.

The therapy lives in the visual layer, so every game can use it.

Each eye gets its own image

Dichoptic rendering shows a target only to the weaker eye, or lowers contrast for the stronger one, with both eyes open. That is MFBF without anaglyph glasses.

A virtual prism bar, built in

Each eye’s image shifts at a steady rate in Δ/s to create convergence (base out) and divergence (base in) demand. Pull the trigger at break and at recovery.

Numbers, not guesses

Break and recovery in prism diopters, the median of each session, charts over time and a CSV export for your eye care professional.

Adapts as you improve

An adaptive staircase balances the contrast between your eyes. Hit the targets and the help fades; struggle and it comes back.

Your room or outer space

Play in passthrough mixed reality on top of your real room, or in a calm virtual environment.

Comfort by design

Seated play, no artificial locomotion, a steady horizon and short sessions. Recenter anytime.

Why VR

Why a headset changes the game.

Patches and red-green glasses are classic tools. A VR headset adds what they can’t.

Vergence · Measurement

Tennis Ball

A ball floats 1.5 m away. Each eye sees its own copy, slowly pulled apart and back together. Pull the trigger when it doubles, and again when it becomes one.

  • Convergence and divergence ramps
  • Suppression markers for each eye
  • Median break/recovery per session

Anti-suppression · MFBF

Rhythm Cut

Slice crystals to the beat with a blade in each hand. In MFBF modes the targets appear only to the weaker eye and the bombs only to the stronger one, so you need both.

  • 4 modes, from binocular to mixed
  • Adaptive contrast balance
  • Original in-app music

Calibration

MFBF Lab

See exactly what each eye receives: both, only the weaker or only the stronger. A quick check before you play.

  • Per-eye contrast and prism
  • Great for first-time setup

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Binolume a medical treatment?

No. Binolume is a training tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition. It turns well-known vision exercises into games and records your results, and works best as part of a plan guided by an eye care professional.

Who is it for?

People practicing binocular vision skills, including those working on amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus or convergence and divergence difficulties, and the optometrists and orthoptists who guide them.

Can adults use Binolume?

Yes. Binolume is designed for teenagers and adults as well as children aged 10 and up. Results vary from person to person, which is why every session is measured.

Do I need red-green glasses or any other kit?

No. The headset shows each eye its own image, so all you need is a Meta Quest and its controllers.

Do I need an eye care professional?

We strongly recommend one. A professional can tell you which exercises and settings suit your case, and lock them with the professional PIN. Binolume exports your data so they can follow your progress.

Which headsets are supported?

Binolume is built for Meta Quest and is developed and tested on Meta Quest 2. Check the Meta Horizon Store page for the current list of supported headsets.

Can I use it with glasses?

Yes. Meta Quest headsets fit most glasses, and the glasses spacer that comes with the headset gives extra room.

How old do you need to be?

Meta requires users to be at least 10 years old (ages 10 to 12 need a parent-managed account). Children should always play under adult supervision.

How long should a session be?

Short and regular beats long and rare. Follow your professional’s guidance and stop right away if you feel eye strain, headache, dizziness or nausea.

What happens to my data?

Profiles and sessions are stored on your headset. Nothing is sent to us. You decide when to export a CSV and who to share it with.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are handled by Meta. Cancel anytime in your Meta account or in the Meta Horizon app; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

Your eyes, one team.

Put on the headset, play a game and see the numbers for yourself.
